# Redis

> Redis or its fork Valkey, whichever your distribution packages, on localhost.

An in-memory key-value store for caches, queues and sessions, bound to localhost and started at boot. On Ubuntu and Debian you get Redis when the distribution packages it, Valkey otherwise; on AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux and Fedora it's Valkey when the repositories carry it, Redis otherwise.

## Details

- Installs on: Ubuntu and Debian; AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux and Fedora
- Smallest plan: Budget (1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM)
- Public ports: none (nothing listens publicly)
- Project site: https://redis.io/

## After the server is ready

1. Check it with `redis-cli ping` (or `valkey-cli ping`).
2. Point your app at 127.0.0.1:6379.

## Order it

Pick Redis in the order form, or use `"app": "redis"` in the API or `rack4 servers create --app redis`. See [all one-click apps](https://rack4.io/apps) and [plans](https://rack4.io/plans).
