# Features

> Server controls, recovery tools, automation and account features available on every plan. Each one links to the guide that explains it. What Rack4 does today.

## Deploy

Your distribution, your app and your keys, on KVM and NVMe, set up on the first boot.

- **[Your choice of Linux distribution](https://rack4.io/os)**: 6 distributions in 10 versions: Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, Fedora and Arch Linux, from official cloud images.
- **[One-click apps](https://rack4.io/apps)**: Docker, WordPress, Coolify, WireGuard and more, installed on first boot.
- **[Extra packages and first-boot scripts](https://rack4.io/help/setup-scripts)**: Name packages to install and paste a script that runs once as root.
- **[SSH keys or a root password](https://rack4.io/help/manage-ssh-keys-in-the-panel)**: Save your SSH keys once and pick them for each server, or have a root password generated and shown once.
- **KVM virtualization**: Your own kernel and real hardware behaviour: Docker, WireGuard and custom modules just work.
- **NVMe storage**: Every disk is an NVMe volume, cloned from the image when you order.

## Run

Get in, keep traffic in check, watch the numbers, and hear when something needs you.

- **[Serial console in your browser](https://rack4.io/help/serial-console)**: Get in when SSH won't let you: fix a firewall or a broken boot.
- **[Per-server firewall](https://rack4.io/help/server-firewall)**: Allow and deny rules in front of your server, edited in the panel or the API.
- **[IPv4 and IPv6](https://rack4.io/help/ipv6-setup)**: One IPv4 and one IPv6 address on every plan, set up on the first boot. IPv6 comes once our allocation is approved.
- **[Reverse DNS](https://rack4.io/help/reverse-dns)**: Set the PTR record for your IPv4 and IPv6 addresses yourself.
- **[Usage graphs](https://rack4.io/help/monitor-your-server)**: CPU, disk and network over a day, a week or a month, and transfer used this month.
- **[Resource alerts](https://rack4.io/help/notifications-and-alerts#set-an-alert-rule)**: Rules per server for CPU, memory, monthly transfer, or the server going down. Get notified when an alert starts and when it clears.
- **[Notifications in the panel and by email](https://rack4.io/help/notifications-and-alerts)**: Servers, billing, support, alerts and security in one place; you pick panel or email for each kind. Billing and security emails always go out.
- **[Public status page](https://rack4.io/help/service-status)**: Each component's state, uptime over up to 90 days, incidents and maintenance, by email, Atom feed or JSON.
- **[Panel search and shortcuts](https://rack4.io/help/panel-search-and-shortcuts)**: Jump to any server, invoice or page from the keyboard, and name, tag and filter your servers.
- **Support tickets**: They go to the people who operate the platform, and sit next to your servers and invoices.

## Protect and recover

Ways back after a bad change or a broken boot, and sign-ins that resist phishing.

- **[Snapshots](https://rack4.io/help/snapshots)**: Up to three per server, taken with the server shut down: a running one is stopped and started again, about a minute offline.
- **[Automatic snapshots](https://rack4.io/help/snapshots#automatic-snapshots)**: Daily or weekly at an hour you pick in your time zone, keeping 1 to 4 apart from your own three. Each run pauses the server for about a minute.
- **[Off-site backups](https://rack4.io/help/off-site-backups)**: An optional paid add-on: the whole disk once a day, encrypted, kept with another storage provider, and restored to the same server or into a new one.
- **[Rescue mode](https://rack4.io/help/rescue-mode)**: Boot a small Debian system with your server's disk attached, to run fsck or reset the root password. It ends by itself after 24 hours.
- **[Passkeys](https://rack4.io/help/passkeys-and-security)**: Sign in with your fingerprint, face or device PIN. A passkey only works on my.rack4.io, so a look-alike page can't use it.
- **[Two-factor authentication](https://rack4.io/help/two-factor-authentication)**: Authenticator app codes, with recovery codes for a lost phone.
- **[Security center](https://rack4.io/help/security-center#the-checkup)**: A checkup of your account, every signed-in browser, recovery codes and the last 40 security events on one page.
- **[Sessions and activity log](https://rack4.io/help/sessions-and-activity)**: See where you're logged in, sign out other sessions, and review every change.

## Automate

Manage servers from code: an API, a command-line tool and webhooks.

- **[Full REST API](https://rack4.io/help/api-quickstart)**: Servers, firewalls, snapshots, SSH keys, reverse DNS and invoices, as API calls.
- **[The rack4 command-line tool](https://rack4.io/help/install-the-rack4-cli)**: Create and manage servers from your terminal.
- **[API reference and OpenAPI document](https://rack4.io/help/developers)**: Every endpoint with examples in curl, JavaScript and Python, a Try it button, and an OpenAPI document for code generators.
- **[API tokens](https://rack4.io/help/api-tokens)**: Separate tokens for scripts and CI, each one revocable.
- **[Signed webhooks](https://rack4.io/help/webhooks)**: Events as JSON to your own HTTPS endpoint, signed with HMAC-SHA256, retried when your endpoint fails, with a test ping and redelivery.

## Team and billing

Share the account with roles, and pay the way you like.

- **[Teams and roles](https://rack4.io/help/teams)**: Invite people with their own logins as admin, billing, technical or read only. Up to 25 people on an account.
- **[Bitcoin or USDT (TRC-20), monthly or yearly](https://rack4.io/help/payment-methods)**: Pay month to month, or for 12 months at once, with Bitcoin or USDT (TRC-20). Invoices are priced in US dollars.
- **[Bitcoin through our own BTCPay server](https://rack4.io/bitcoin-vps)**: Pay in Bitcoin through our self-hosted BTCPay Server. Invoices are priced in US dollars.
- **[Account credit](https://rack4.io/help/payment-methods)**: Overpayments, partial or late payments that can't pay their invoice, and refunds to credit pay your next invoices.
- **[Credit top-ups and company invoices](https://rack4.io/help/account-credit-and-invoices)**: Add funds ahead so renewals pay themselves, and get PDF invoices made out to your company.
- **[Referral credit](https://rack4.io/help/referral-program)**: Share your link; when someone you refer pays for their first server, you both get account credit.
- **[14-day money-back guarantee](https://rack4.io/help/money-back-guarantee)**: Request a refund within 14 days of paying for your first order.

Larger plans add CPU, memory, disk and transfer; some one-click apps need a larger plan. Compare them on [the plans page](https://rack4.io/plans).
