## Why AlmaLinux 10

AlmaLinux 10 is a free rebuild that's binary-compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10. It's the newer of the two AlmaLinux releases we offer, so a server built on it has until 2035 before it needs a major-version move.

## When to pick something else

Some software that supports RHEL 9 hasn't added RHEL 10 yet, so check your vendor's or control panel's supported list. If 10 isn't on it, take AlmaLinux 9 or Rocky Linux 9.

## Support window

AlmaLinux 10 gets security updates from the AlmaLinux project until 2035.

- **Active support** (until 2030): Security fixes, bug fixes and the updates that follow RHEL 10's minor releases.
- **Security support** (until 2035): Security and important fixes only.

## Upgrading

Minor releases (10.1, 10.2 and so on) arrive with `dnf upgrade`. There's no newer major release to move to yet.
