# Linux VPS plans

Each Linux VPS uses KVM virtualization and NVMe storage, with root access and one IPv4 and one IPv6 address (IPv6 once our allocation is approved). Servers run in New York.

## Plans

Prices in US dollars. vCPUs are shared. Transfer counts traffic in and out per calendar month (UTC).

| Plan | vCPU | RAM | NVMe | Transfer | Price |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Budget | 1 | 2 GB | 40 GB NVMe | 2 TB | $7.99/month or $84.00/year |
| Standard | 2 | 4 GB | 80 GB NVMe | 4 TB | $12.99/month or $139.00/year |
| Extreme | 4 | 8 GB | 160 GB NVMe | 8 TB | $24.99/month or $269.00/year |

Every plan includes the panel, the API and the rack4 CLI, snapshots, rescue mode, a serial console, and a choice of six Linux distributions. Larger plans add CPU, memory, disk and transfer; some one-click apps need a larger plan, and add-on limits grow with the plan. See [all features](https://rack4.io/features).

## Build your server

Choose a plan, billing term and add-ons on this page to see your total; it opens the order form with them filled in (`/servers/new?plan=standard&term=yearly&addon_ram=2`). The same prices are at [/plans.json](https://rack4.io/plans.json).

### Add-ons

Chosen at order or later from the server's page, billed for the same term as the plan. Add-on limits depend on your plan, and RAM and vCPU changes need a restart. More is charged for the rest of the period; less applies from the next renewal. See [add-ons](https://rack4.io/help/add-ons).

| Add-on | Price | Most per plan (Budget / Standard / Extreme) | Applied |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Extra RAM, per 1 GB | $3.50 a month or $35.00 a year | +2 / +4 / +8 GB | Applied with a restart: now, or at your next reboot from the panel. |
| Extra vCPU, per core | $4.00 a month or $40.00 a year | +1 / +2 / +4 | Applied with a restart: now, or at your next reboot from the panel. |
| Extra NVMe, per 20 GB | $2.50 a month or $25.00 a year | +80 / +160 / +320 GB | Grows live. A disk never shrinks. |
| Transfer pack, per 1 TB a month | $2.00 a month or $20.00 a year | +4 / +8 / +16 TB | Adds to the monthly transfer allowance. |
| Extra IPv4, each | $3.50 a month or $35.00 a year | +1 / +2 / +4 | Added live; you add the address to the server's network config. Port 25 is blocked on it too. |
| Off-site backups, per server | Budget $1.60 a month or $16.00 a year; Standard $2.60 a month or $26.00 a year; Extreme $5.00 a month or $50.00 a year | on or off | Daily encrypted backups of the whole disk, kept with another storage provider, with one-click restore. See [off-site backups](https://rack4.io/help/off-site-backups). |

Off-site backups are priced per plan, per server: the table shows each plan's price.

## Good to know

### Monthly or yearly

Invoices are priced in US dollars. You pay with Bitcoin or USDT (TRC-20), monthly or 12 months at a time; the Bitcoin or USDT amount is set at checkout. See [payment methods](https://rack4.io/help/payment-methods) and [paying in Bitcoin](https://rack4.io/bitcoin-vps). The yearly price, billed once a year, is in the table above. You can [cancel at any time](https://rack4.io/help/cancel-a-server): the server runs until the end of the period you paid for, and unused time isn't refunded.

### 14-day money-back

If Rack4 isn't right for you, [request a refund](https://rack4.io/help/money-back-guarantee) within 14 days of paying for your first order. You get the invoice's US dollar amount back; a Bitcoin payment comes back in Bitcoin or as account credit; a USDT payment comes back as account credit, or as USDT (TRC-20) we send by hand to a Tron address you give us. Accounts suspended for breaking the [Acceptable Use Policy](https://rack4.io/aup) are not refunded. The [Terms of Service](https://rack4.io/terms) have the details.

### Self-managed

You get root, and the system updates, security and the software you install are yours. Snapshots help you undo a change but stay on the server's host and are deleted with it; for copies kept elsewhere, add [off-site backups](https://rack4.io/help/off-site-backups), an optional paid add-on, and run [your own](https://rack4.io/help/backups-you-should-run) too.

### Who you buy from

Rack4 (founded in 2011 as VPSNine) is operated by Tekari LLC. Questions before you order go to [hello@rack4.io](mailto:hello@rack4.io); customers can also open support tickets in the panel, which go to the people who run the platform. See [About](https://rack4.io/about).

## Questions

### How does monthly transfer work?

Each plan includes a monthly transfer allowance (2, 4 or 8 TB). Traffic in both directions counts, and the count starts again on the first of each month (UTC). Your server page shows how much you've used, and a transfer pack [add-on](https://rack4.io/help/add-ons) raises the allowance. There are no overage fees: if a server goes over, we email you and ask you to add a transfer pack or move to a larger plan, and we won't slow down or suspend it for transfer without contacting you and giving you at least 7 days to respond ([Terms of Service](https://rack4.io/terms#transfer)). You can also set a [transfer alert](https://rack4.io/help/notifications-and-alerts) in the panel.

### Can I pay yearly?

Yes. You can pay month to month or for 12 months at a time; the monthly and yearly prices are both on the [plans page](https://rack4.io/plans). A yearly term renews for another 12 months unless you cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and the server runs until the end of the year you paid for; the unused part isn't refunded, except under the 14-day money-back guarantee, which covers a first yearly order in full. See [cancel a server](https://rack4.io/help/cancel-a-server).

### Can I add memory, disk or IPv4 addresses later?

Yes, as [add-ons](https://rack4.io/help/add-ons): extra RAM, vCPUs, NVMe disk, transfer and IPv4 addresses, up to a limit for each plan. Choose them when you order or later from the server's page; they're billed for the same term as the server, and RAM and vCPU changes need a restart. Their prices are on the [plans page](https://rack4.io/plans#addons). If you outgrow the limits, order a bigger plan and move across: [Choosing a plan](https://rack4.io/help/choosing-a-plan) walks through it.

### What happens if I miss a renewal?

The renewal invoice arrives 7 days before your paid period ends, with reminders after that. If it's still unpaid 3 days after the due date, the server is suspended, and 14 days after the due date the server and its disk are deleted. [Unpaid renewals](https://rack4.io/help/unpaid-renewal) has the full timeline.

### Is there a refund policy?

Yes, a 14-day [money-back guarantee](https://rack4.io/help/money-back-guarantee): ask within 14 days of paying for your first order. Accounts suspended for abuse are not refunded.
