Features

Server controls, recovery tools, automation and account features available on every plan.

Deploy

Your distribution, your app and your keys, on KVM and NVMe, set up on the first boot.

Your Linux, your app, ready on the first boot

Pick one of 6 distributions from official cloud images, add a one-click app or your own packages and a first-boot script, and choose the SSH keys that may log in. cloud-init does the rest when the server first starts.

Linux distributions

Choosing a distribution, an app and SSH keys on the order form, with example keys.
  • Your choice of Linux distribution6 distributions in 10 versions: Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, Fedora and Arch Linux, from official cloud images.
  • One-click appsDocker, WordPress, Coolify, WireGuard and more, installed on first boot.
  • Extra packages and first-boot scriptsName packages to install and paste a script that runs once as root.
  • SSH keys or a root passwordSave your SSH keys once and pick them for each server, or have a root password generated and shown once.
  • KVM virtualizationYour own kernel and real hardware behaviour: Docker, WireGuard and custom modules just work.
  • NVMe storageEvery disk is an NVMe volume, cloned from the image when you order.

Run

Get in, keep traffic in check, watch the numbers, and hear when something needs you.

Alerts, notifications and webhooks

Set rules on each server for CPU, memory, monthly transfer or the server going down. They show in the panel's bell, by email if you want them there, and as signed JSON at an HTTPS endpoint you run.

Notifications and alerts guide

A server's alert rules, a webhook delivery and the panel bell, with example values.
  • Serial console in your browserGet in when SSH won't let you: fix a firewall or a broken boot.
  • Per-server firewallAllow and deny rules in front of your server, edited in the panel or the API.
  • IPv4 and IPv6One IPv4 and one IPv6 address on every plan, set up on the first boot. IPv6 comes once our allocation is approved.
  • Reverse DNSSet the PTR record for your IPv4 and IPv6 addresses yourself.
  • Usage graphsCPU, disk and network over a day, a week or a month, and transfer used this month.
  • Resource alertsRules per server for CPU, memory, monthly transfer, or the server going down. Get notified when an alert starts and when it clears.
  • Notifications in the panel and by emailServers, billing, support, alerts and security in one place; you pick panel or email for each kind. Billing and security emails always go out.
  • Public status pageEach component's state, uptime over up to 90 days, incidents and maintenance, by email, Atom feed or JSON.
  • Panel search and shortcutsJump to any server, invoice or page from the keyboard, and name, tag and filter your servers.
  • Support ticketsThey go to the people who operate the platform, and sit next to your servers and invoices.

Protect and recover

Ways back after a bad change or a broken boot, and sign-ins that resist phishing.

Rescue mode, for the day it won't boot

Rescue boots a small Debian system with your server's disk attached as a second disk, untouched and not mounted. Check the filesystem, fix /etc/fstab, reset the root password, then boot back into your own system.

Rescue mode guide

The rescue page in the panel, with example values.
  • SnapshotsUp to three per server, taken with the server shut down: a running one is stopped and started again, about a minute offline.
  • Automatic snapshotsDaily or weekly at an hour you pick in your time zone, keeping 1 to 4 apart from your own three. Each run pauses the server for about a minute.
  • Off-site backupsAn optional paid add-on: the whole disk once a day, encrypted, kept with another storage provider, and restored to the same server or into a new one.
  • Rescue modeBoot a small Debian system with your server's disk attached, to run fsck or reset the root password. It ends by itself after 24 hours.
  • PasskeysSign in with your fingerprint, face or device PIN. A passkey only works on my.rack4.io, so a look-alike page can't use it.
  • Two-factor authenticationAuthenticator app codes, with recovery codes for a lost phone.
  • Security centerA checkup of your account, every signed-in browser, recovery codes and the last 40 security events on one page.
  • Sessions and activity logSee where you're logged in, sign out other sessions, and review every change.

Automate

Manage servers from code: an API, a command-line tool and webhooks.

Everything from code

Order, power, reinstall, and manage keys, firewalls, snapshots, reverse DNS, add-ons and invoices through one JSON API. The rack4 command-line tool is built on it, and the OpenAPI document feeds client generators.

Developers guide

The API, the rack4 CLI and the OpenAPI document in a terminal, with example values.
  • Full REST APIServers, firewalls, snapshots, SSH keys, reverse DNS and invoices, as API calls.
  • The rack4 command-line toolCreate and manage servers from your terminal.
  • API reference and OpenAPI documentEvery endpoint with examples in curl, JavaScript and Python, a Try it button, and an OpenAPI document for code generators.
  • API tokensSeparate tokens for scripts and CI, each one revocable.
  • Signed webhooksEvents as JSON to your own HTTPS endpoint, signed with HMAC-SHA256, retried when your endpoint fails, with a test ping and redelivery.

Team and billing

Share the account with roles, and pay the way you like.

Your team, each with their own login

Invite people by email and give each a role. Nobody shares a password, the owner can require two-factor authentication for everyone, and the activity log shows who changed what.

Available on every plan

Larger plans add CPU, memory, disk and transfer; some apps need a larger plan. Compare the plans
